Kira’s summer school class is finished now. We went to school on Thursday to see the mural she was working on with the art teacher. Bryce took some pictures. It’s not quite finished here. We think it looks great! The mural is in the cafeteria.
I am finally trying to get my May pictures scrapbooked. I am just doing the month of May for now. I made a few pages. They aren’t fancy but they ARE done. I can’t wait to do some more! Love those $.10 prints from Walgreens! They are $.15 each this week. I like their quality so I may need to get some more this week.

Having Custard–that sounds a little different than I meant! Kira is having fun with Custard! She likes to introduce him to her friends. They all love him. Keiser likes to “go see Custard” in her room too. They get nose-to-nose for a little bit & Keiser can watch him while he’s safe in his cage.

Friday night I whipped up pound cake with the recipe from Martha Stewart Living magazine (July ‘09). The article had the classic recipe plus recipes for variations (like this one). I made the toasted coconut and vanilla bean. The recipe makes 2 cakes. They turned out very well. However, the recipe said to “tent” foil over the coconut while baking. I found that it needed longer to bake & still was a little undone in the center. It wasn’t a big problem. Bryce & Kira *really* liked these too. I will make this recipe again & plan to try the chocolate chip and poppy seed variations sometime (those are two separate cakes!). I really enjoyed making these.

We went to the Carriage Classic this afternoon in Columbus. We watched some competition and while we were watching, a man asked to braid Kira’s hair. He was there to braid and care for horse tails and manes! He specializes in long hair and organic hair care (no commercial shampoos!). He was very interesting. We enjoyed the afternoon & ate a late lunch at Culver’s before coming home.

Today was our 16th wedding anniversary. We celebrated by going out for supper with Kira. She took our picture and convinced us to take her shopping. We ate a nice meal at Texas Road House in Madison. We did that last year & decided to just go with that again this year.
Then we didn’t know what else we wanted to do…so we came home & took the dog for a walk. Our normal routine! We feel lucky. Of all the things we’ve done since we started out together, loving each other has been the easiest!
